10 Question Tag

1) What did you want to be "when you grew up" when you were younger? Has your "dream career" changed since then?

I wanted to do something like my dad; he works with sheet metal and welding to make custom repair parts. When I was in kindergarten, there was a station where you would nail pieces of wood together to make things. I made a paper towel holder with a removable top. My teacher told me that I was going to become an engineer or architect when I grew up. I got into middle school and became more and proficient in computers. I took many classes and excelled, but at the end of the day I struggled at finding the patience to work with such a frustrating medium. My mom kept going on about how I was going to make a lot of money designing computers. At the start of middle school, I picked up piano and started memorizing songs. By high school, I was so excited by the idea of learning new instruments. I found me a guitar at a thrift store and eagerly hoped one day they would open the instrument case for me to look for new instruments. I picked up saxophone and flute these last two years by chance and this has been by far the most memorable of my “hobbies.” I started composing my sophomore year and it almost feels like I understand music more than I understand English. For my whole life people have been telling me what to do with my life, just this once I want to be someone different. I plan on taking as many music classes and learning as many instruments as I can these next two years of college. And then at the end, where ever my heart takes me is where I will go whether that is composing, teaching, or sound engineering, or both.

2) If you could win any award currently in existence (Nobel peace prize, Superbowl ring, Grammy, etc.), which would you most want to win and why?

You probably saw this coming but I’d like to win the Guinness book of world records for most instruments I can play. XD

3) Suppose you are an astronomer who has just discovered a new galaxy. What will you name it?

Zelda 231 (in Ocarina of Time there is a puzzle where you have to remember the code by, “23 is number 1”)

4) What song was most recently stuck in your head?

My favorite things. In the anime, Kids on the Slope, they sing it for a music festival. My favorite line is, “I simply remember my favorite things and then I don’t feel so bad.”

5) If you could witness any moment in history, but not have the power to change anything, which moment/event would you go back and see?

I don’t feel a strong connection to the past. I’d rather put all my resources into building a brighter future.

6) Who is your favorite character in the book you most recently read?

I’m going to change this to anime. In Tsuritama: the fishing anime, there is a side character named Akira who has a pet duck he talks with named Tabioka. He is part of a secret organization called Duck and is ordered to look after this boy that is an alien. He becomes friends with the alien through fishing with friends and abandoned his entire organization to protect him in order to save the world. He’s smart and wears a cool turban.

7) What is your favorite geographic shape? :b

I love triangle. I really like patterns and if you’ve ever seen the triforce or Stravinsky/Pascal’s Triangle, there’s so many cool patterns.

8) List three things that make you happy. :3

Music, Friends, I don’t need anything else.

9) Which do you think conveys a more powerful message: pictures or words?

Pictures can convey so many colors. Like music, words are often secondary because its not about language but emotion.

10) You are trapped on a deserted island! D: Supposing food and water are provided, what three things would you most want to have with you?

- An awesome pocket knife to build things like shelter and a wooden flute

- Goggles for swimming

- Anything else I could build myself
